More Myths Surrounding Vaping Debunked
Depending on what side of the issue you are on, you can look at vaping from different angles. Some people will have you believe e-cigarettes are a gateway to conventional cigarettes and other drugs. Others will say vaping helped them quit a worse habit. Your reason for vaping is entirely up to you. But for general education, here are a few myths about vaping we have debunked.
E-cigarettes are just as harmful as cigarettes because they contain nicotine
This is a popular myth. Many people believe nicotine is the most harmful part of smoking a cigarette. So far, research has shown that although nicotine is addictive,it’s the other chemicals inside the cigarette that do damage. E-cigarettes do not contain tar or carbon monoxide, both of which are found in cigarettes.
Second-hand e-cigarette smoke is harmful to bystanders
Unlike cigarettes, there is no smoke - or vapor - coming from the device itself. The only aerosol admitted is the vapor that is exhaled. So, far, there has been no evidence of bystanders being negatively affected by e-cigarette vapor. Not to say that if you have respiratory problems you shouldn’t take precautions.
E-cigarettes are not regulated
E-juice and other e-products are regulated and must meet a minimum standard of quality and safety. E-liquid packages are also labeled with pertinent information for consumers to make an informed decision.
E-cigarettes lead young people into smoking
There has been no evidence that proves, or even suggests, that smoking e-cigarettes leads young people to smoking. However, use of vaping products is more popular among those who already have taken up smoking analog cigarettes.
