PG vs VG Vape Liquid and What’s Best for You

October 02, 2017

chasing clouds

So, you’ve made the decision to switch from analog to e-cigarettes i.e. vaping. It is less toxic than combustible cigarettes while at the same time satisfying that nicotine craving. However, there is a little more to consider when it comes to vaping. For instance, what flavors do you like? What device should you use – open or closed system? What nicotine strength is right for you? Should you go straight to nic-salts (salt-based nicotine)? And finally, should you vape e-juice that is more PG or VG-based?

PG E-Liquid

PG (propylene glycol) is the more popular of the two e-liquids. PG has a thinner consistency that VG and is absorbed easier by the polyfill and cotton inside the wick tank. Due to the low density, there is less gunk with which to contend on the heating element of the vaporizer, and it takes more time to build up than the residue from a VG liquid. PG is tasteless and odorless, so it does not affect the flavor of the e-juice. It also delivers a stronger throat hit than VG liquids.

VG E-Liquid

The liquid of choice for cloud chasers. Vegetable glycerin is much thicker than propylene glycol (PG) and has a slower absorption rate for wicks and cartomizers. Due to its consistency, there is a lot of residue that can clog up vaporizers. It also has a mild sweet taste that makes the e-liquid a little sweeter, masking the flavor of the liquid. VG tends to be less allergenic than PG, and gives you less of a throat hit. It also produces huge billowy clouds of vapor.

VG e-liquid produces massive clouds

Depending on your preference, you may gravitate more towards a PG-based liquid rather than a VG-based e-juice or vice versa. If you like a harder throat hit, then PG is for you. But if you like chasing clouds or want a milder sensation, go with VG. However, if you are brand new to vaping – but are a former smoker, a safe bet will be the Ns20 by Element E-Liquid. This brand of nicotine salts (salt-based nicotine) powered by the Aspire Gusto Mini. It bridges the divide between cigarettes and vaping while giving you the best of both worlds – a strong nicotine kick minus the harsh throat hit, with the capability to produce impressive clouds.

Many health professionals have agreed that vaping is less harmful than smoking. It has been used as a form of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). Vaping does not produce the toxins and poisons that smoking combustible cigarettes do.

Whatever your reason for vaping, make sure you choose what’s right for you.
